Message from Patricia Abbott, Artistic Director, Lake MacDonald Music Centre

The spectacular summer-like weather combined with the brilliant fall colours and a full house made for a memorable Thanksgiving weekend at Lake MacDonald this year. Thank you to all the teachers and weekend director Anne-Marie Denoncourt for all their hard work. Everyone enjoyed singing and playing John Rutter’s Te Deum under Marg Stubington’s direction. The drawing classes with José Duclos and the hike with biologist Anne-François Rocheleau’s nature commentary were much appreciated additions to the weekend activities. Our delicious Sunday banquet was followed by an equally delicious concert of Beethoven and Dohnanyi trios with the Trio Morpheus (Mark Djokic, Frédéric Lambert and Chloé Dominguez). Friends Hélène Plouffe, Anne-Marie Denoncourt and Marie-Annick Béliveau joined them for Chausson’s Chanson perpétuelle. Mark Simons and Lubo Alexandrov livened up the Musical Happy Hour and the close of the cabaret evening. Thanks to their friends Sergiu Popa and Jessica Gal who joined them!

We were also privileged to be part of a very special event. Longtime CAMMACers Dorothy and Julio Laufer chose to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at CAMMAC. They were joined by some 20 members of their family for the entire weekend on this very happy occasion. What a great idea! I know you join me in congratulating Dorothy and Julio for their diamond anniversary.

We are now looking ahead to a late winter/early spring date for the Bach weekend, and to the chamber music weekend in May (May 18-21, 2012). We hope to be able to confirm the dates for the Bach weekend shortly. Of course, planning has already started for the summer 2012 program. In the meantime, I wish you a great fall season.

Great News!  Success in fundraising! I am delighted to be able to tell you that we have received a total of $101,000 in fundraising plus an unexpected and extremely welcome $50,000 gift from an anonymous donor.  So, we are in a much stronger financial position as we begin 2010.  Many, many thanks to all our challenge donors, to those who gave to match the challenge, and to our 'super' anonymous donor.  The Board is very happy with the results.  All the best, Harry
P.S.  If you have not yet given, you still can.

Send in your money now! - The year is ending and our opportunity for doubling gifts comes to an end on December 31st. All gifts postmarked in December can be counted. Won't you help us go over the top by sending in your gift to CAMMAC now? Thanks so much to all of those who have contributed. We are at $43,000 now which is $86,000 when doubled and that will help a lot. Harry

Meeting the Challenge! Did you know that CAMMAC is in the middle of a very important fundraising drive?  A group of donors has challenged us by offering to double any monies CAMMAC receives before December 31st.  If you have already given, THANK YOU.  If you didn’t get our fundraising letter and would like to help, please read our fundraising letter at and fill out the form attached to it to make a gift.  This is a chance to DOUBLE  your money but all gifts must be received by December 31st.   We have currently reached $27,000 in the campaign and we need $47,500 to meet our objectives. Thanks for your help!  Harry Qualman, CAMMAC President
