A Bouquet of Spring and Summer Musical Offerings
Although the winter has been relatively mild, my thoughts are already turning to spring and summer as I anticipate with joy our upcoming thematic weekends, summer program and Festival CAMMAC concert series at the Lake MacDonald Music Centre.
There should be a hint of green in the trees when we hold the annual Bach weekend April 27 to 29. Christopher Jackson and Hank Knox will once again be on hand to bring their expertise and insight on the music of Bach, specifically Cantata 131, Aus der Tiefen rufe ich, Herr, zu dir, and the Orchestral Suite BWV 1070. Yves Saint-Amant will help with vocal production and German diction. If chamber music is your passion, we invite you to join chamber music weekend coordinator Corinne Bergeron and an excellent team of coaches – Myriam Bernard (piano), Jean-Pierre Brunet (strings) and Claire Marchand (winds) – from May 18 to 21. We are also pleased to offer an opportunity this year for jazz combos to work with two outstanding coaches, saxophonist and composer Christine Jensen and pianist David Restivo.
Our summer program starts on June 24 and runs until August 12. Once again, we offer you an outstanding roster of teachers and coaches, and a wide variety of classes that will help you improve your musicianship, technical skills and overall appreciation for music. We promise you a good time, good food and good encounters with fellow musicians who share your passion. You can look at the details now on this website.
If you are not able to spend week at Lake MacDonald this summer, we invite you to at least drop by for our increasingly popular Sunday morning concert followed by brunch. It is a lovely way to spend a Sunday and we have an exciting line-up of guest artists who are looking forward to performing for you.
I sincerely look forward to welcoming you once again to the Lake Mac Donald Music Centre and am confident that you will enjoy our 2012 bouquet of musical offerings.
