The Stradivatango project brings together two exceptional Canadian artists: Stéphane Tétreault, recognized as a cello prodigy, and Denis Plante, a leading figure of the bandoneon in Canada. Together, they explore the world of tango with unmatched passion and virtuosity.

Their program features of Argentine tango classics as well as works specially composed for their unique duo. Alternating between intimate moments and explosive passages, their performance captures the full emotional richness of tango, from its mesmerizing melancholy to its effervescent energy. Their interpretations are marked by a constant quest for authenticity and creativity, offering the audience a musical experience that is both profound and unforgettable.

Music of the Renaissance places special importance on the consort tradition, bringing together instruments from the same family across the full sonic range.

Alongside the celebrated viol consort, recorder consorts hold a prominent place, prized for their warmth and tonal richness, sometimes recalling the sonority of the organ.

This program sets refined repertoire alongside expressive dance forms (pavanes, galliards), highlighting striking contrasts and introducing a contemporary perspective. The result is a nuanced and energetic exploration of early music.

Echoes from East to West

WORLD MUSIC

In this musical dialogue, musicians Ran Wang (guzheng) and Annette Bauer (sarod, recorders, duduk, tabor) trace a path along the Silk Road from East to West.

Their journey follows a geographical arc from China to Italy by way of India, while also bridging historical periods: from the music of the ancient Han dynasty (200 BCE – 9 CE) to that of the early European Renaissance in 15th-century Italy.

The program draws inspiration from the physical and emotional landscapes that an imagined traveler might encounter along the way – from the profound beauty of unfamiliar places to the courage required for a long journey, and the solitude of being far from home. Above all, this musical voyage is an unfolding conversation between the sounds of their instruments and the rich resonances of their strings, leaving space for improvisation and the exploration of the unknown.

Founded in Montreal in 2017, Quatuor Cobalt has established a distinctive presence on the Canadian music scene through the clarity of its artistic vision and the ambitious scope of its projects.

The ensemble is renowned for its dedication to contemporary music, while bringing precision and sensitivity to major works within the classical repertoire. Since 2022, its members have contributed to CAMMAC’s chamber music program as instructors.

This summer, Quatuor Cobalt returns to the CAMMAC stage to present two early works from composers at the outset of their careers: Schubert’s Quartet No. 10 and Ravel’s Quartet in F major. Though written nearly a century apart, both quartets reveal composers experimenting with ideas that would shape their later work.

Presented as part of Wellness Week, Echoes of Peace brings together the luminous sonorities of the harp and cello.

Harpist Annabelle Renzo, widely recognized on the Canadian music scene as a significant figure in contemporary music and therapeutic soundscapes through her project, Sérénité Sonore, joins renowned Canadian cellist Julian Armour, one of Canada’s most active chamber musicians and artistic leaders.

Together, they explore a richly varied repertoire in a program including works by Arvo Pärt, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Camille Saint-Saëns, and others. By turns contemplative, vibrant, and deeply resonant, this program reveals the remarkable range and colour of an exceptionally compelling instrumental pairing.

Blending tradition with improvisation, A Night in the Garden of Eden invites listeners on a musical journey where classical music meets folk rhythms, jazz, and original compositions.

Pianist Guillaume Martineau and clarinetist Gabriel Paquin-Buki reveal the full range of their versatility, bringing to life unconventional sonic landscapes. Klezmer roots brush up against Mediterranean shores, while Latin rhythms find their way into the heart of Romantic Europe. A program that promises both discovery and delight!

The all-female vocal quartet Musaïque presents an eclectic program showcasing the richness of female voices.

Performing together since 2023, accomplished professional singers Kerry-Anne Kutz, Julie Leblanc, Monique Fauteux, and Catherine Léveillé will sing works by Gilles Vigneault, Joni Mitchell, Sylvain Lelièvre, Daniel Lavoie, Shania Twain, Gino Vannelli, and others, with arrangements crafted by their longtime friend, Simon Leclerc. This quartet of long-time colleagues and friends is widely recognized for bringing a warmth and undeniable chemistry to the stage, and their nuanced interpretations are described as exceptional.
