It is with great sadness that we have recently learned of the passing of a long-time CAMMAC member, Bob Spasoff. We’d like to extend our sincerest condolences to Bob’s wife Sylvia, his daughter Nicola, extended family and friends.

Bob Spasoff

DR. ROBERT SPASOFF

1942-2021

Bob and his wife Sylvia first joined CAMMAC as members in 1965, having seen an ad in the newspaper in Montreal from CAMMAC for music lessons. Sylvia tells us that Bob was so impressed that Mario Duschenes was teaching that he signed up immediately. They first attended camp at Lake MacDonald in the summer of ‘67, and Bob went on to serve for several years on the executive board of CAMMAC Ottawa-Hull (now Ottawa-Gatineau).

Bob had a great passion for music, progressing through music history, from his recorder and Zuckerman harpsichord days, and the Baroque period, to buying a viola and beginning lessons with Janos Csaba in his thirties.  He had a great love for string quartets and quintets, and played whenever he got the chance. Bob had music in his blood and it was a joy and comfort to him all his life.

There will be a memorial service held for Bob in Ottawa at a later date.
