
A proud representative of the Conservatoires de musique du Québec, Josée Marchand began studying oboe at the age of 14 with Francine Shutzman and Bernard Jean. She was unanimously awarded first prize in oboe and chamber music. She continued her studies at the Juilliard School of Music with Elaine Douvas, principal oboist of New York’s Metropolitan Opera House. She was a member of the Orchestre Métropolitain for 8 years, and a musician with many Quebec orchestras, including the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, I Musici and Les Violons du Roy, to name but a few. Josée Marchand is also a member of the orchestras of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Trois Rivières, Longueuil and SMCQ. She specializes in the oboe, the English horn and the Heckelphone.
