
Louis-Philippe holds a master’s degree (M.MUS) in performance from the University of Montreal. He studied mainly with Timothy McAllister (University of Michigan) and attended many prestigious events such as the World Saxophone Congress (Scotland, Strasbourg), the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition (Thailand) and the Université Européenne du Saxophone (France) as well as the Arosa Saxophone Course (Switzerland) where he perfected his knowledge of the repertoire and pedagogy with the great European masters.
He is regularly invited as a soloist or chamber musician with the Duo AIRS or the Ensemble SaxoLogie to renowned organizations such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Société de Musique Contemporaine (SMCQ), Code d’Accès, Groupe Le Vivier and La Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur. In 2020, his first CD of Sonatas for saxophone and piano Une auto, un boulevard, un vélo et de la neige was released on the ATMA Classique label.
A recognized pedagogue, he is regularly asked to give juries, clinics and master classes for many organizations: the Conservatoire de Musique et d’Art Dramatique du Québec (CMADQ), the Fédération des Harmonies et Orchestres Symphoniques du Québec (FHOSQ), MusicFest Quebec, the Festival de Musique du Royaume and the Camp Musical des Laurentides. In 2019, he founded the first Saxophone Symposium, an annual advanced training course in collaboration with all the Conservatories of the province of Quebec. He also directs the Saxophone Ensemble of the CEGEP de Saint-Laurent, the only pedagogical saxophone ensemble in Quebec.
Louis-Philippe currently teaches saxophone and chamber music at the CEGEP de Saint-Laurent, the Conservatoire de Musique de Rimouski as well as at the Camp Musical du Saguenay Lac Saint-Jean and CAMMAC. Louis-Philippe is a clinical artist for YAMAHA Saxophones, KEY LEAVES products and LÉGÈRE reeds.
