Born in Mexico City, Rafael Sánchez Guevara plays viola da gamba and cello, focusing on historical and rhetorical performance of several musical styles, and interested in research and outreach of knowledge and arts.

After studying at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the University of Montreal, he is glad to play music with colleagues and students, celebrating diversity of styles, origins and personalities. Passionate of teaching and learning, he is a faculty member in viola da gamba and baroque cello at UNAM, and he gives lessons and courses in different contexts for any public.

Enduringly attached to Quebec musical scene, his past and upcoming collaborations include Les Voix Humaines Consort, La Cigale, Pallade Musica and the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal.
