
Christopher teaches jazz composition and arranging at Vanier College, where he also directs the Concert Band and was named “Professor of the Year – part-time category” in 2004-2005. He has composed and arranged for a variety of groups in diverse styles from big band to symphony orchestra and musical theatre. His regular musical activities include playing trombone and tuba for Altsys Jazz Orchestra, l’Orchestre Symphonique de Sherbrooke, Opus Lib brass quintet, the Montréal Jazz Big Band, and Streetnix. He is leader of the J.L. Big Band and his own ballroom big band Le Big Bang Orchestra. Christopher has his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music, and his Bachelor’s in Trombone Performance from McGill University. He has won prizes from downbeat magazine and the International Association for Jazz Education for his arrangements and compositions.
