Born in France, Tiphaine Legrand moved to Quebec in 1998 where she studied voice and choral conducting with Chantal Masson-Bourque at the Université Laval and then with Nicole Paiement and Robert Ingari at the Université de Sherbrooke. She is a passionate choral music teacher who works with singers of all ages and in a wide range of musical styles. Tiphaine founded Ensemble Kô in 2006, and as artistic director of the group her focus is on exploring the connections between early music and the work of contemporary Montreal composers. She currently conducts several choirs, including the École des jeunes de la Faculté de musique de l’Université de Montréal and the Chœur classique de l’Outaouais, of which she has been musical director and choirmaster since September 2011.
