A Musical Menagerie

Spring break music camp for adults, teens, and kids at the CAMMAC Music Centre

Sunday March 3 to Thursday March 7, 2024

Join us for a week filled with fun activities and classes suitable for all ages and levels of amateur musicians.

Whether you come with family, with friends, or on your own, CAMMAC’s Spring Break week is the perfect mid-winter getaway for relaxing and creating unforgettable musical memories in the heart of the Laurentians.

See below for program information, pricing, terms and conditions.

This year’s theme: “A Musical Menagerie”

Animals are a great source of inspiration for composers. Just think of the beauty of birdsong! In music, animals can be evoked in a variety of ways: a composition can include the transcription of a cry, a rhythm may suggest a manner of walking, and the speed and virtuosity of instruments can evoke swiftness and agility (as in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee). Animals are often found in stories told through music, playing supporting roles, and as main characters (as in Serge Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf).

Throughout the week, we will explore the concept of the musical menagerie in our classes and activities. From animal-themed choral works to the creation of origami animals, insects, and birds, our furred, feathered, and scaled friends will take center stage.

Program highlights include choral singing, origami and Japanese culture, percussion, dance, guitar, chamber music, tai chi, and outdoor activities. Joint activities for adults, teens, and kids will include lively group games, a treasure hunt, a sushi-making workshop, origami and Japanese culture workshops, movies, a cabaret evening, a campfire sing-along, and much more. And at the end of the week, everyone gets to show off what they learned by performing in a concert.

🎵 New classes for 2024: ukulele, recording techniques, and songwriting.

PARENTS AND GRAND-PARENTS, YOUR FAMILY WILL LOVE SPRING BREAK AT CAMMAC!

Spend the week sharing your love of music with your children and/or grandchildren, while indulging in adult musical activities as well.

From singing with you in the choir to storytelling under the stars at the winter bonfire, they will remember these moments forever.

CAMMAC is an intergenerational camp, where each member of the family can enjoy programs designed for their own age group and skill level, allowing everyone to play, learn and relax according to their own needs.

Kids and teens will find their days filled with activities designed to expand their creativity, build their confidence, and grow their love of music. It’s not uncommon for kids meet people at CAMMAC who become friends for life! Meanwhile, adults can relax, focus on their class schedules, and not have to worry about how to keep the kids entertained. Mealtimes and intergenerational activities taking place throughout the week bring everyone together for guaranteed fun.
