Music and stargazing at CAMMAC
An eclectic week featuring choral repertoire with a stargazing theme, small vocal ensembles, chamber music, a mini piano-intensive program and more.
It’s a special week for guitarists as well with popular and classical guitar classes available for all levels.
WHAT’S NEW + PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
+ Of special interest to singers and chorists: This will be a great week for singers and chorists, because our faculty includes not one, not two and not three, but FOUR internationally renowned choral directors. Andrew McAnerney (Artistic Director of the Studio de musique ancienne de Montreal), Michel Roberge (chorus master for the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, Austria), Patricia Abbott (Chorale du Gesù, Chorale de la Commission scolaire English-Montréal, Ensemble Cantivo and Les Voix du Carrefour), and Geneviève Boulanger (recipient of the Ordre du mérite choral from l’Alliance chorale du Québec)
+ New to choral singing? Two classes are offered this week that will introduce you to the basics of vocal technique and the fundamentals of sight-reading: “Choir 101” and “Music Theory and Solfège” will help you to find out everything you need to know to feel comfortable for your debut.
+ Mini piano-intensive program with Lucille Ouellette and Amélie Fortin: a wide selection of masterclasses and workshops for pianists of all levels (including beginners). Classical piano is joined by a new addition: popular piano + piano accompaniment to popular songs and arranging.
+ Mini one-on-one coaching sessions for guitar and piano: if you have a specific question or problem to work out, you’ll be able to benefit from short one-on-one coaching sessions.
+ Origami workshop for all ages with Hideko Sinto: discover the joys of transforming a piece of paper into a unique work of art as you explore the techniques and cultural context of the traditional Japanese art of origami.
+ An evening of stargazing: discover all about the constellations that light the sky above CAMMAC during a night-time stargazing activity, guided by Trevor Kjorlien, founder of Plateau Astro.
+++ Will the Goddesses of Lake MacDonald make an appearance during Week 6? You’ll have to be here to find out!
