An Exploration of Musical Genres: Jazz Meets Classical

NEW FOR 2020:

  • Improvisation sessions for beginners
  • Recording techniques

Jazz and classical: One or the other, or explore a little of both!

Whether you’ve always wanted to start playing jazz, you want to build on the jazz skills you already have, or you just love listening to jazz, this is the week for you.

On the jazz side, we pay tribute to the life of Vic Vogel, an important figure in the world of jazz in Montréal. He was famous for having written the music for the 1976 Olympics, inspired by the works of Québécois composer André Mathieu.

And on the classical side, we travel back in time nearly a century to explore the lush music of Franz Schubert through his magnificent works. Along with the Beatles, Leonard Bernstein considered Schubert to be among the best melodists in the world!
