From a very young age, Emmanuelle grew up surrounded by music and received a solid foundation in classical piano from Ani Keropian and Renée Lavergne. In high school, she threw herself wholeheartedly into her school’s Music-Studies program and discovered classical clarinet under Vincent Dodier. A natural improviser, she decided from then on to pursue jazz music.

Now holding a DEC in Techniques professionnelles de musique et chanson from Cégep de Saint-Laurent, she has two specializations to her credit: Performance – Jazz Piano (2019, instructors: Lorraine Desmarais and Pierre François) and Arrangement and Composition (2023, under the guidance of Jean Fréchette and Marie-Ève Bouchard).

Since 2023, Emmanuelle has been pursuing her studies at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, where she is deepening her expertise as an improviser under the tutelage of Jean-Michel Pilc and Marianne Trudel, as part of her bachelor’s degree in jazz performance.

She wears many hats: for the past decade, she has taught piano, music theory, and ear training privately and in music schools. She also accompanies choirs and dance groups (eurythmy at the Rudolf Steiner School of Montreal) and works as a music copyist (formatting scores).

Her talents have also led her to compose and arrange music for various ensembles – including orchestras, big bands, quartets, duos, four-hand piano pieces, and more – for institutions such as Polyvalente Sainte-Thérèse and Concordia University.

Numerous inspiring projects have shaped her career as a freelance musician, notably during tours of cultural centers in Quebec and as part of slam poet and storyteller Frank Sylvestre’s multi-art project: “Âme en exil” (2022). She has also made a name for herself at festivals such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Osheaga Music and Arts Festival, Les Francos de Montréal, the Rimouski Jazz and Blues Festival, and the Festival des Traditions du Monde de Sherbrooke.

A recent memorable achievement was her role as a substitute keyboard player for “Les Trois Accords – Présence d’Esprit” at Les Francos de Montréal in June 2024.

A versatile young professional making her mark on the Montreal music scene, Emmanuelle stands out for her sensitive, controlled, and colorful touch, as well as her keen ability to listen. This quality is particularly valuable in her role as an educator. Emmanuelle is delighted to put her skills to use for the first time at CAMMAC!
