Dear CAMMAC friends,
What an exceptional summer! For eight wonderful weeks, CAMMAC was filled with music, creativity, discovery, laughter, and beautiful encounters. In our magnificent natural setting, you once again helped create the special atmosphere that makes CAMMAC so unique, a place where we come not only to make music, but also to connect, share, learn, and build friendships.
What a musical summer it was! Several weeks were completely full, with waiting lists, countless chamber music groups, and musicians of all ages, backgrounds, and levels. Among the many highlights were the huge orchestra in Week 3, the Schubert quartet reading with the Cobalt Quartet and 40 participants, harp magic in Week 4 with children and adults playing side by side, nine combos in Week 5, children’s combos in Week 8, Dalcroze workshops, participant cabarets, sing-along evenings, and the spectacular dance that brought Week 8 to a close after the exhilarating performance by the Klezmer ensemble.
And then there was all the music that never appeared on a programme: spontaneous jam sessions, groups forming around a score, songs around the dinner table, and musicians meeting and playing together for the first time. This spontaneous music, happening everywhere and at all hours, is truly at the heart of CAMMAC.
We were also especially delighted to see so many intergenerational moments this summer, with children, young people, adults, and more experienced musicians sharing their knowledge, discoveries, and above all, the joy of making music together. These connections between generations are one of the things that makes CAMMAC so special.
And CAMMAC is about so much more than music! Visual arts, yoga, dance, tai chi, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, tennis, and outdoor activities all added to the richness of the experience.
Our Sunday concerts were also wonderful moments of connection. Their diversity and the enthusiasm of our audiences allowed us to welcome many new faces and share the CAMMAC experience with our wider community.
None of this would have been possible without you.
Thank you to our participants, teachers, artists, and team members for your energy, enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment. You bring CAMMAC to life and make it so much more than a music centre.
You made this summer truly unforgettable. Thank you for being part of it, for making music, and for sharing your talents, curiosity, laughter, and passion.
We can’t wait to welcome you back next summer to continue to play, sing, dance, learn, discover, and, above all, make music together. In the meantime, we invite you to take part in our programs and activities throughout the year.
With heartfelt thanks, and looking forward to seeing you again soon at CAMMAC,
Guylaine Lemaire, Artistic Director
