Help on Composer
Composers are listed in the catalogue last name first, followed by initial(s). For example: BEETHOVEN L V, HAYDN J, MENDELSSOHN F, VERDI G.
If the music you are looking for is contained in a collection of music by several different composers, the Composer field will contain the code ALBUM or VARIOUS.
Note that as the library catalogue contains no periods after any of the composers’ initials, you should not include periods in the Composer search field, or your search will turn up no results.
If you don’t know the full name (or first initial) of a composer, you can type in a partial name.
The on-line search is not case-sensitive. This means you can type in any combination of upper and lower case letters, and it will successfully match the word regardless of the case used in the library catalogue.
