Musical Postcards from CAMMAC
2024 Edition

A digital showcase of artistic excellence

In the spring of 2021, CAMMAC released Musical Postcards from the CAMMAC Music Centre, a series of six videos funded by the Canada Council for the Arts through the Digital Originals Initiative. We are now thrilled to present a new series of videos funded by the Canada Council for the Arts through the Digital Now program.

Patrick Simard (drums), Vanessa Marcoux (violin) and Guillaume Martineau (piano)

Conceived by Artistic Director Guylaine Lemaire, Musical Postcards from CAMMAC is an innovative digital portfolio that vividly brings CAMMAC’s story to life through its greatest assets.

Alexis Chartrand (violin) and Anne-Marie Gardette (dance)

This project not only highlights the CAMMAC Music Centre’s dedication to providing rich musical experiences but also underscores its role as a vibrant hub fostering meaningful interactions between performers and audiences.

Created between between October 2023 and March 2024, these nine new videos were filmed at the CAMMAC Music Centre in Quebec’s Laurentian region, and at the Conservatoire de musique de Montreal. They feature an eclectic group of 26 members of CAMMAC’s exceptional faculty, many of whom rank among Canada’s finest performing artists.

Four of the videos feature original compositions commissioned from Canadian composers Kevin O’Neil, Guillaume Martineau, and Matthias Maute. Adding to the interdisciplinary aspect of the project, three Canadian artists were invited to create works inspired by these new musical pieces. Their artworks are included in the videos of the new pieces, resulting in a compelling dialogue between sound and image.
