Vincent Morel began his musical training with Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal before continuing his studies at Cégep de Saint-Laurent (1980-1982) and later at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education.

He went on to found the jazz vocal ensemble Bémol 9, a group of 18 singers with whom he recorded six albums, including Noël, which was nominated for an ADISQ award in the Jazz Album of the Year category. Active for more than forty years, the ensemble has performed widely across Quebec, notably at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and the Rimouski FestiJazz.

An active professional chorister on both television and stage, he has taken part in numerous album and commercial recordings. He also served for ten years as head chorister and vocal arranger for the Radio-Canada program La Fureur.

A dedicated educator, he taught jazz voice, directed vocal ensembles, and coached studio vocal work at the Université de Montréal for 35 years (1988-2023). He held similar roles at Cégep de Saint-Laurent from 1998 to 2025.

A sought-after guest conductor, he has participated in numerous choral gatherings and led workshops for conductors interested in incorporating jazz into their choir’s repertoire. A professional arranger, he regularly writes works for a variety of vocal ensembles.
